We Asked 3 Women to Try Using True Botanicals Products and Their Stories are Kind of Amazing

There are a lot of great things about a complex skincare routine. A full shelfie is indisputably cute, and we love that with social media, consumers are more educated than ever on how to build a skincare regimen that works.

But what happens when it…doesn’t? When you get a breakout, a complicated skincare routine may only complicate the journey to a solution. We’ve all been there – we know something isn’t working, but how the hell do we find out what it is when our routines are overloaded with brands and ingredients?

Enter True Botanicals. We had heard some pretty weighty claims about their products – apparently, they could help us out with acne, complexion, and then some. The bottles are undeniably chic. Their non-toxic ingredient list is so simple; could it really work? We decided to put it to the test.

We reached out to you guys – our HBFIT community – and asked that anyone with acne that wanted to try out True Botanicals‘ products DM us a selfie.

We picked three amazing women – Heather, Azeezah, and Michelle – who nobly put their skin in True Botanicals‘ hands for us.

First things first: we set them up with an over-the-phone skin consultation. This mimics the quiz that you take before you buy their products online. Then, we sent them the products that True Botanicals recommended. The only rules were that they had to use they could only use True Botanicals products, use them as directed, and take photos along the way. While we didn’t independently verify each of their experiences, we followed their journey through all of the photos they sent and included them here for you to check out. They each used the product for 6 weeks and provided us updates on their progress along the way.

The outcome is – well, you can see for yourself. We were pretty shocked at the results; we hoped for the best, but didn’t expect that each woman would have such a positive experience. Not only did each woman see clearer skin, but their complexions evened and brightened, too.  Below, our three amazing HBFIT community members Heather, Azeezah, and Michelle, tell us a bit about their experiences.

Going into this experience, what were your main skin concerns? When was acne first a problem for you and how did these breakouts make you feel?

My main skin concerns were acne, texture issues, and post breakout redness. My skin was at its worst about two years ago when I started getting cystic acne out of nowhere. I hated my skin and felt embarrassed even with makeup.

What skincare regimens or treatments had you tried in the past to clear up your skin? How did they work for you?

I had tried well-known acne treatments, DIY skincare, facials, and pretty much all kinds of drugstore products.

What True Botanicals products did you use; what was your new skincare routine (day and night)?

In the morning I used the Hydrating Cleanser followed with the Clear Nutrient Tonerand Pure Radiance Oil.

In the evening I used the Pre Cleanse Oil to remove makeup, followed by the Hydrating Cleanser. I used the Nutrient Toner after with the Pure Radiance Oil, Cellular Repair Serum, and Antioxidant Booster.

To follow that, every few days I would use the Resurfacing Mositure Mask.

What was your favorite True Botanicals product, and why?

My favorite was the radiance oil. A little goes a long way with it and I do have very dry skin and that helped my skin so much.

When did you start noticing a difference in your skin?

I noticed a difference after about two weeks. I noticed any breakouts I had were either gone or had shrunk considerably. My texture had improved and my overall complexion was a lot more even.

Heather midway into the trial, about 3 weeks into using the products.

How does your skin feel compared to before, texture wise?

My texture feels a lot better. I still have some small bumps on my forehead but nothing compared to how many I had before.

How do you describe your skin now after using True Botanicals? Have you noticed a difference in how you behave/feel now that your acne has cleared?

My skin looks the best it has in a long time. To even go into a grocery store for a few minutes I had to put on makeup or I felt embarrassed. Now I like going without makeup or with as little as I can and I feel totally confident with it.

What surprised you about the products?

I was surprised that they didn’t dry out my skin. Most products I’ve ever used dry out my skin so much and that was one thing I was very happy about.

What advice would you give to someone else suffering with acne?

I would say find products with good ingredients and then just give it time. Skin takes a while to heal unfortunately and my skin took at least a month to get to a really good state. I still get breakouts sometimes around that time of the month or during extreme times of stress but that’s life and it’ll go away eventually.

Who would you recommend True Botanicals to?

I would recommend True Botanicals to anyone suffering with acne. The products worked for me and continue to work.

Would you choose to use True Botanicals products going forward?

I absolutely am going to use True Botanicals after this. It’s the first skincare routine that has been this consistent for this long because it worked for me, so I wouldn’t give that up.

Going into this experience, what were your main skin concerns? When was acne first a problem for you and how did these breakouts make you feel?

Going into this experience, my main concerns were acne breakouts, post-breakout hyperpigmentation and scarring.  Acne has been a problem for me since my early teens (probably around 13 years old) and the breakouts made me feel self-conscious. It was hard answering questions from adults who assumed that I just wasn’t washing my face regularly enough or had a poor diet, because I was trying a ton of different treatments. I felt like I had to cake on makeup to hide the hyperpigmentation and the zits. I wore stick foundation and I was always nervous about giving hugs or getting makeup on my clothes. It was hard dealing with the puss, the flaking skin, the cystic acne that was tender to the touch…you get it lol.

What skincare regimens or treatments had you tried in the past to clear up your skin? How did they work for you?

Like everyone, I had tried well-known acne treatments. I tried dermatologist-prescribed and OTC retinoids. I tried the acne line from almost every major skincare brand.  I tried sleeping on copper ion silk pillowcases. I tried using various light treatments. I tried regular facials. I used a cleansing brush with the special brush attachments for acne. I tried using an at-home argon gas high frequency machine. Probably countless other things that I can’t even remember…

What True Botanicals products did you use; what was your new skincare routine (day and night)?

For Daytime, I used the Clear Hydrating Cleanser, followed by the Clear Nutrient Toner and the Clear Pure Radiance Oil.

For Evening, I used the Pre Cleanse Oil followed by the Clear Hydrating Cleanser, the Clear Nutrient Toner, the Clear Pure Radiance Oil and topped off with a mix of the Antioxidant Booster and the Clear Cellular Repair Serum.

I also used the Resurfacing Moisture Mask twice a week.

What was your favorite True Botanicals product, and why?

I really loved the toner. I love the way it smells and I love the ritual aspect of shaking it (the natural oils separate out).

A close runner up is the Clear Pure Radiance Oil. It was rich but lightweight; a perfect primer for my evening rolling sessions.

When did you start noticing a difference in your skin?

I would say that I started noticing a difference after the first two weeks. My skin appeared brighter and less “combination”: less oily patches and fewer dry areas.

Azeezah mid way through the trial, about 3 weeks into using the products.

How does your skin feel compared to before, texture wise?

My skin feels much better. The texture is finer and more even. Softer, as well.

How do you describe your skin now after using True Botanicals? Have you noticed a difference in how you behave/feel now that your acne has cleared?

There is a huge difference in that now I am not experiencing regular breakouts! I had a few stress-induced breakouts after a medical scare about 4-5 weeks in involving a hospital visit (I am fine now, thank God). I still have some fresh hyperpigmentation from those breakouts, but have not had any since. I am so excited to see what my face will look like when the hyperpigmentation fades!

What surprised you about the products?

That they worked. I will be completely honest and say that I was somewhat cynical going in, given that I have tried so many other things that didn’t work out. I have really started evaluating the products I purchase to make sure that I am not exposing myself to harmful chemicals, so that was initially what drew me to True Botanicals. I thought that at the very least, I could swap out some of my non-clean products for clean ones. But now I actually have clear skin for the first time in my adult life! I am ecstatic.

What advice would you give to someone else suffering with acne?

A) Don’t give up. B) Try the Clear line from True Botanicals C) Take advantage of the skincare consultations offered by True Botanicals!

When I started working with my True Team Coach Amanda Hendlin, she asked about every product I applied to my face, including sunscreen and makeup. She then looked up all of the products and told me that one of the foundations I had been using for years as well as my sunscreen serum were comedogenic. She then suggested clean substitutes, which I currently use. I was meticulously cleaning my skin, but it I was still breaking out because I was applying waxy products. I have seen my fair share of skincare professionals, and few have been so meticulous.

Who would you recommend True Botanicals to?

Everyone. Like a true Taurean, I am a sucker for luxury, and True Botanicals delivers on that front. The bottles are apothecary minimalist chic…cute enough for any “shelfie” and they have earned a place on my vanity. As the name would imply, the products all have wonderful, herbaceous scents that make them a pleasure to apply and really help you relax and the end of a long day (or steal a few calm moments before heading out for the day).

The fact that these are clean products cannot be emphasized enough. I was using a mix of clean/non-clean products before, but now I feel so much more confident knowing that I am getting amazing results using products that I feel comfortable putting on my skin.

The True Botanicals line is a more expensive line. However, the confidence I now have knowing that I have beautiful skin has been worth the investment.

Would you choose to use True Botanicals products going forward?

Definitely. I would love to try some of their new body products, in addition to keeping up with my face routine.

Going into this experience, what were your main skin concerns? When was acne first a problem for you and how did these breakouts make you feel?

I’m 24 and never went through puberty acne, so naturally I thought I was one of those lucky humans to pass that obstacle. My skin has never had acne issues up until about a year ago. I started to get breakout blotches around my T-zone. Then moved to my cheeks. The breakouts then started to be more than temporary breakouts, but more cystic acne that was very stubborn. I felt like I had no control on what would happen next. I was scared and so nervous trying new products that seemed exciting and worked for others, because it seems like my skin had a rebellious mind of its own.

What skincare regimens or treatments had you tried in the past to clear up your skin? How did they work for you?

I’ve tried non-alcoholic toners, witch hazel toners, astringents, face washes for acne prone skin. In the past they worked great and people even complimented how glowy my skin was. They helped clear out smaller acne areas, however wouldn’t seem to stand a chance with the stubborn, cystic-like areas that later came.

What True Botanicals products did you use; what was your new skincare routine (day and night)?

The True Botanical routine that was recommended to me was part of the “Clear” collection.

AM:

Hydrating Cleanser

Nutrient Toner

A few drops of Pure Radiance Oil

PM:

Hydrating Cleanser

Nutrient Toner

A few drops of Pure Radiance Oil

Cellular Repair Serum mixed with the Antioxidant booster

Once a week, True Botanicals Resurfacing Moisture Mask at night.

What was your favorite True Botanicals product, and why?

The Hydrating Cleanser! It worked like magic taking off the day and didn’t leave my skin feeling dry.

When did you start noticing a difference in your skin?

I have to say it took a few weeks for me to see a difference in my skin. Around the 4th or 5th week using these products is when I noticed the difference and when I was told my skin was getting better by friends and family too.

Michelle midway into the trial, about 3 weeks into using the products.

How does your skin feel compared to before, texture wise?

My smoothness and glow are coming back.

How do you describe your skin now after using True Botanicals? Have you noticed a difference in how you behave/feel now that your acne has cleared?

The stubborn areas have definitely decreased or gone away. It has been a “slowly but surely” process. The more I follow the regimen, the more my skin will follow also. I feel like I can see my face again.

What surprised you about the products?

I was surprised that it took about 3 weeks for the products to begin working, but after that, weeks 4, 5, and 6 progressed very smoothly.

What advice would you give to someone else suffering with acne?

It doesn’t define your beauty. It doesn’t define who you are. It may alter the way the world sees you, but it shouldn’t alter the way you see you. In fact, it’s your skin communicating with you that something is off. Find what it is as naturally as you can. Search for cleaner ingredients first before anything. Obviously every skin type is different and no one solution works for everyone, but sometimes the more simple ingredients the better.

Michelle at the end of the trial, after using the products for 6 weeks.

Who would you recommend True Botanicals to?

Anyone who a) is struggling with acne b) someone who will value the benefit of simple and natural ingredients.
